NMN (β-nicotinamide mononucleotide) is the direct precursor of NAD+, and is regarded as the determining factor to raise serum NAD+ levels. NMN is naturally present in human cells to maintain NAD+ levels, but its level gradually declines with age. In middle age, the body  NAD+ level is half of that in youth.
